Rock Climbing

Rock climbing is a sport where people will climb up sheer rock faces or other naturally occurring rock formations or sometime man made climbing walls which are designed to replicate a naturally rock formation. Rock climbing is a popular activity globally and more and more people are becoming involved in rock climbing each year.

At its simplest form rock climbing can be performed with very little equipment, aside from ones own hands and feet, for ascend larger boulders which usually don’t exceed a height of roughly ten feet. However rock climbing can be done on much higher rock faces and this will often require the use of various types of specific rock climbing equipment, much of it for the purpose of preserving the rock climber’s safety. There are a number of different safety ropes designed for rock climbing all made with specific situations in mind, other equipment may include a helmet and assorted varieties of clamps.

Rock climbing is often enjoyed a competitive level and climbers will often compete against each other, attempting to ascend to the top a rock face quicker than others, or attempt to climb higher that others, numerous records have been set for rock climbing. Rock climbing is also noted for its health benefits, as people attempting rock climbing should have a good level of physical fitness and will often find their strength greatly improved to the great level of effort that climbing may often require.
